Something not working? Let's look together.
The common problems and their answer, the questions I get asked the most, and a door for your ideas. If you can't find it, write to us, a human reads it.
Something not working
The team code doesn't work
The code is six characters, letters and digits, no spaces, and it never contains O, 0, I or 1, so those aren't the mix-up. It goes with the restaurant's short name (the one in the address, like cafe-lumiere). Three causes out of four: a mixed-up character (B and 8, S and 5), the wrong short name, or a code that changed. The manager can see it in Settings, Team access. If they just changed it, every phone has to enter it again.
After ten failed attempts, the door closes for fifteen minutes. That's normal, wait and try again.
My schedule doesn't show up on my phone
Three checks. Did the manager publish the week? A week in draft doesn't show on the team side. Are you on the right address, your restaurant's, not bonjourgus.com? And is your name in the schedule written the same as in your file? The "my week" filter looks for your name as is.
The team code stays good six months on a phone. If you changed phones or cleared the browser, do "See my schedule" again.
My punch code doesn't work, or I forgot to punch out
The code has four digits. It's the one you chose when creating your profile; if you didn't choose one, it's 1111, and the manager can see or change it in your HR file. Most restaurants punch at the register, and Gus doesn't change that. When a restaurant has no register that punches, the manager can turn on punching on My week: "I'm starting" when you arrive, "I'm done" when you leave.
A forgotten punch out is no big deal: the manager confirms each day the next morning and puts in the right hours. Tell them. Hours are rounded to the nearest quarter hour.
I can't log in to the Back Office
The Back Office takes an email and a password, not the team code. If you forgot the password, we make a new one by email, the link is good for 30 minutes. If you turned on the second factor and lost your phone, write to us from the account's email: we check it's really you and remove the second factor, then you turn it back on from your new device.
After eight failed attempts, login closes for fifteen minutes.
The morning verdict is gray, not green, yellow or red
Gray means yesterday hasn't been entered. Day, Enter yesterday: sales, transactions, service hours, kitchen hours, the routine checked off. Two minutes, and the verdict appears. A month with missing days gives incomplete totals, Gus says so on the Dashboard.
I'm not getting the emails (published schedule, reminder, password)
Check your junk folder and add gus@bonjourgus.com to your contacts. On the team side, the email has to be in your file: the manager checks it in HR. On the management side, reminders only go to accounts that have a management email in a file (Director, Manager).
If nothing reaches anyone, it's probably on our end: write to us.
The payment didn't go through, or the account is read-only
When a card is declined, Stripe retries on its own over the following days, and the owner gets an email. To change the card right away: Settings, Subscription, "Manage my subscription". A trial that ends without a plan also puts the account in read-only: everything stays visible, nothing is lost, and everything starts again as soon as the subscription is taken.
Two people edited the same schedule
The last save wins. The editor keeps the previous versions: Versions, at the top of the grid, to go back. To avoid it, one person edits a week at a time; the manager makes the schedule, the owner looks.
An employee no longer shows up in the lists
An archived employee disappears from the schedule pickers and the team side, but their file stays in HR, "Show inactive". To bring them back: their file, then "Reactivate". A deleted file, though, is gone, and only the owner can do that.
I made a mistake, I want to go back
Schedules have their versions. Settings, the handbook and day entries are corrected by writing over them. The black box (Settings) says who changed what and when, which helps find the right value again. Nothing is deleted without an explicit action from the owner.
Frequently asked questions
Do my employees have to install something?
No. They go to bonjourgus.com, "See my schedule", they enter the restaurant's short name and the six-character code. It works on any phone, and the code stays good six months.
How long does it take in the morning?
Two minutes to enter yesterday, five fields. The verdict, the sales goal and the priorities are calculated on their own.
What if my starting targets are wrong?
You change them in Settings whenever you want: labour cost target, food cost, average ticket. Gus recalculates from there, without touching the days already judged.
Who sees what?
The team sees the schedule, their availability, the handbook. The manager sees the whole Back Office except the cost settings, the subscription, the black box and employee deletion, which belong to the owner. The SIN and the bank account are masked and every reveal is logged.
Where is my data?
At Vercel and Postgres, encrypted at rest, employee files with a key specific to your location. You export everything as CSV or JSON whenever you want, and closing your account erases everything after 30 days.
Several restaurants?
One price per location on a single invoice, a single account to move from one to the other through the menu at the top of the page. Each restaurant has its own address, team code, settings and handbook. To add a second location, write to us: we open it inside the same company, with your branding.
In French? In Spanish?
Yes, both. The team side and the Back Office exist in French, English and Spanish, each person's choice (FR/EN/ES link at the top), and the location's region sets the default language, currency and time zone.
How do I pay?
By card, at Stripe, from Settings, Subscription. From $149.99 per month, $429.90 for three months ($20 less) or $1,529.90 per year per location, plus taxes; add-ons go on the same invoice. Invoices are in the payment portal.
How do my employees send me their void cheque and their details?
On the team side, in Availability and documents, under their name. What their file is missing is open, what's received is greyed out. They send a photo of the cheque or their bank's PDF, their SIN, their address, and nobody can read back what was sent, not even them. You see it in HR, in their file, with the date and how it arrived. For them to change something, click «Request again», it reopens on their side and the old version stays on file.
What are the add-ons?
Options on top of the plan, only if you need them: mobile punch for a restaurant without a register that punches, tip sharing, payroll export, texts to the crew and the connected register (coming soon, Lightspeed first, then Square). Each has its price per month per location, is added from the Back Office (Add-ons tab), comes off whenever you want, and there's no add-on without the plan. During the trial, everything is open.
When can I stop?
Whenever you want, from the payment portal. The current month runs to the end, the yearly plan too. You export your data before, or after, it stays 30 days.
Is the POS connected?
Not yet. Yesterday's sales, your manager types them in with the four other fields. Tell us which POS you have, that's what decides the next integration.
An idea for Gus
Bonjour Gus was born in a café-bistro and it grows with the restaurants that use it. What you're missing in the morning, what you'd do differently, a POS to connect: say it here. Every message is read, and the good ideas make it into the product.
Emergency during service: bonjour@bonjourgus.com with "URGENT" in the subject. The full walkthrough explains every screen.
